The Vontron XLP11-4040 Reverse Osmosis Membrane is an extremely low-pressure membrane element designed for efficient treatment of properly pretreated, low-salinity feedwater. Its standard 4-inch × 40-inch configuration supports installation in compatible 4040 pressure vessels and commercial reverse osmosis equipment.
Under specified test conditions, the current XLP11-4040 configuration provides a nominal permeate flow of 2,600 gallons per day, or approximately 9.8 cubic meters per day, with a stable salt-rejection rate of 99.2%. The membrane is tested at 100 PSI, approximately half the test pressure used for many conventional low-pressure brackish-water elements.
The spiral-wound membrane provides approximately 100 square feet of active membrane area and uses a 28-mil feed spacer. Its combination of low-pressure operation, permeate production and dissolved-solids rejection can help reduce pump-pressure requirements in properly designed systems.
The XLP11-4040 is intended for qualifying low-salinity sources such as municipal water, groundwater and surface water. It is also well suited for the second pass of a two-pass RO system when feedwater quality and operating conditions meet the manufacturer’s requirements.
Proper pretreatment is essential for controlling sediment, hardness, scale, iron, organic fouling and oxidizing chemicals. Feedwater chemistry, available pressure, recovery and required permeate quality should be evaluated during system design.
